The Government of Australia (GOA) through the Australia Indonesia Partnership provides A$ 355 million of Australian loan and grant funds to assist Indonesia meet its target of universal basic education. The Program will fund the construction of about 2,000 new or expanded schools, using existing community construction modalities, and create at least 330,000 additional formal junior secondary school places and a significant number of additional non-formal places.The BEP will also help Indonesia improve the quality and governance of its education system
The Program has been designed and prepared by AusAID in consultation with the Ministry of National Education (MoNE), the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Bappenas. It will be implemented through a rolling program approach, which allows for annual adjustments to strategy, programming and budgeting. These adjustments - based on an annual performance review and sectoral policy dialogue – will ensure that BEP is responsive to the priorities of the executing Ministries MoNE and MoRA
